His wife Elaine wants success in her new found fame as a rising media star in her own right.  Both want their elegant riverside home in Chelsea. Neither wants the other. One of them has to go, so enter "The Disposal Man". Rather drawn out over 90 mins. One significant gap half way through, but does not impact.

The death from natural causes of a Foreign Office official believed to have been flirting with the extreme right wing and the discovery of some Special Branch secret files in the headquarters of an extreme left-wing organisation surely have nothing in common. Young journalist Susanne is found drowned off the Dorset coast. The police regard it as an accident and close the case, but her father does not believe it was an accident. How did she find the money to travel to exotic places? When did she start taking cocaine? And who was the father of her unborn child? A rather ponderous drama.

Fifty years into their marriage, the general discovers that he never knew his wife as well as he thought ... she hates  war. Mind, she reads the Guardian, which should have given him a clue, but discovering in the newspaper that she has signed an anti-war petition gives him a terrible feeling of betrayal. As the play moves on however, the General discovers that this is not her first act of betrayal. A beautifully written, compelling piece for just two actors. Highly recommended.

It seems however, that in almost every case she touches what started off as a family tragedy turns into a murder investigation, much closer to home. There is much here for pedants to complain about - although based in Warwickshire, Jackie's patch appears to cover the whole of the West...

The Mir space station is hit by an incoming supply shuttle  and is in danger. Valentina Savitskaya , a middle-aged Russian bureaucrat, is sent into space to check the viability of space station Mir's future. As her real motive is gradually revealed, a tense power game is played out.  The idea of a middle aged bureaucrat being given no more than 10 days training to go into space stretches credibility too far. I usual like Nick Fisher's work, but this one was too "Friday Play" for me.

DCI John Stone is a Manchester based detective. Alongside his team of DI Mike Tanner and DS Sue Kelly, he investigates crimes which are not always straightforward, leaving Stone to question which side of the moral divide he is on.  Add to this the friction between his two colleagues, the sexual frisson that passes between Stone & Kelly, plus his difficult relationship with his wife, this is a more thoughtful crime series than many.

A particularly brutal murder, no apparent motive, and very little to go on! No wonder Inspector Stranger is in the dark. His investigations take him to France and what he uncovers there has sinister repercussions. Sound quality poor.
